Chapter1:
affect
definition: to influence or to cause a result
sentence: The nurses' strike affects all hospital.

reflect
definition:to be the result of a particular situation or feeling
sentence: The increase in crime reflects rising unemployment.
morale
definition:a confident state of mind, especially in a bad situation
sentence:The team's morale is high depite their recent defeat.

immoral
definition: not considered good or right
sentence:Using other people for your own profit is immoral.
impose
definition:to force someone to accept something they do not want
sentence:Economic sanctions have been imposed on South Africa.
privacy
definition: the state of being able to be alone, and not seen or heard by other people
sentence:There's not much privacy in these dormatory: the walls are so thin you can hear everything your neighbour is saying.

flexible
definition: able to change to suit different needs or situations
sentence: Dances need to be flexible.
apologize
definition: to say that you are sorry for doing something wrong or causing trouble
sentence:He apologizes for being late.
insistence
definition: the act of stating or demanding something very strongly

Maria Franchino comes from Venezuela. She is a very kind girl. She likes to make friends with American students. Her roommate Jenny also is very kind. Jenny has a boyfriend, his name is Jack. She took Maria with her to go dinner with her boyfriend. Maria thought she was nice. However, at night, Maria has already gone sleep, Jenny took her boyfriend to their room. Maria did not sleep yet, she felt there not only Jenny. She knew someone go together with Jenny. After this case, Maria felt she can't be roommate with Jenny. In Maria's country, before married, men and women can't sleep together. Maria can't endure it.And then she met a girl that comes from the same country with her. Her name is Elena. After that night, Maria decided to move out and moved to the place that Elena lived.
